MMUST ICT Directorate Successfully Implements ProMed Health Management Information System
As part of its ongoing mission to digitize core university functions and improve service delivery, the Directorate of ICT Services at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has successfully overseen the implementation of the ProMed Health Management Information System (HMIS) at the university’s health clinic.

This project, undertaken in collaboration with Encara Systems Africa Limited, marks a major milestone in the university’s digital transformation agenda—streamlining clinical workflows, improving data accuracy, and enhancing overall efficiency in service provision.
With the ProMed HMIS now operational, MMUST Clinic is well-positioned to:
- Deliver faster and more accurate patient services
- Improve records management and reduce data redundancy
- Track and manage clinical inventory effectively
- Lay the foundation for future integrations such as Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
The HMIS implementation is one of several digital transformation projects spearheaded by the ICT Directorate. It highlights MMUST’s commitment to using innovation to meet evolving institutional needs while ensuring better outcomes for students, staff, and stakeholders.
